Our Roots
Our story doesn’t start in a corporate boardroom; it begins in a humble village in Xuchang, China—a region globally recognized as the historical epicenter of the hair trade since the Qing Dynasty.
Our founder, Dennis (Dayong) Xu, grew up completely immersed in this environment. Surrounded by generations of hair collectors and artisans who deeply respected the raw materials, Dennis developed a profound connection with the craft of hair-making. He saw firsthand what true, uncompromised quality looked like, and he dreamed of sharing that authentic craftsmanship with the world.
The Problem
When Dennis moved to the United States in 2010, he was confronted with a painful truth. He watched American women, hairstylists, and salon owners pay exorbitant, premium prices for surprisingly low-quality hair. The market was flooded with middlemen, obscure sourcing, and factories that used harsh acid baths and silicone coatings to disguise cheap, mixed-synthetic hair as "luxury."
Dennis made a promise to himself: to bridge the gap between his hometown’s legendary craftsmanship and the U.S. market, making genuine, premium hair an accessible reality, not an overpriced illusion.
The Turning Point
In 2012, Dennis co-founded a hair brand with a partner to solve this problem. But the partnership soon fell apart over a fundamental clash of values. While his partner wanted to cut corners, compromise quality for profit, and exploit the very customers they promised to help, Dennis refused to bend.
He made a bold, costly decision: he walked away from the profit to stay true to his ethics. He realized that if he wanted to guarantee genuine, ethically sourced human hair, he couldn’t rely on others. He had to build the factory himself.
